Oops! I Did it Again! (That ol' home situation Stress)

I've had a full of life couple of weeks. I updated my website,
designed one for a client, began fake upon different site of my
own, condensed an eBook, launched a chapter of a local Moms
group, put together an article syndicate... and came down
with the flu.

Once again, I tried to cram too many projects into too
little time. I skipped meals, slept below par and paid the
price gone three days in bed. At my age, you would think I'd
know better.

And I reach know better. back up in the bad dated days behind I was
an employee, I was competent to pace myself. There were others
with whom I could allowance tasks. There were scheduled lunch
breaks. There was that guaranteed weekly paycheck. Sometimes
it sounds next heaven on earth.

But in actuality, my pass job was a long exaggeration from Eden,
especially after my daughter was born. I spent my days
obsessed taking into consideration time -- mentally calculating the dwindling when
the L.A. traffic would create it impossible to get from the
office to our daycare provider before closing. And every the
while, what I essentially longed to reach was be at house and watch
my little woman grow.

The idea of on the go at home was enormously appealing, if single-handedly for
the put emphasis on relief.

Two years later, I have a growing house issue -- but
surprise! I'm nevertheless playing beat the Clock - forlorn now
running adjoining Megan's preschool schedule... and I'm just
as frantic now as I was then.

"How can that be?" asks my incredulous husband.

For one thing, it's a exchange kind of stress.

Experts list allowance problems and uncertainty in the midst of the things
that cause nervousness in people, and if you in fact dependence to net
x-amount of dollars from your home business, you can expect
to experience both. Losing the comfort of that weekly
paycheck is a major defense more people don't pick to be
entrepreneurs, and I can assure you they have a point. I
begin each month by staring at my revenue spreadsheet,
wondering if this will be the one taking into consideration nothing comes in.
Then, when I've made some entries and it starts looking
sort of good, I distress that the pace won't keep occurring -- or that
the bordering month will be a dud.

However, as nerve-wracking as that can be, if you feel
trapped in a situation you hate (as I was in my former job),
feelings of helplessness can set in... and that's not only
stressful, but can plummet you into depression.

The stir I experience beyond keep woes is more than offset
by how empowered I air because I'm bill something I enjoy.
I write, I publish, I design, I network, I learn extra things
every day... and I get paid for it! (Well, most of the
time. And if the child support is slow coming in, there are always
things I can accomplish to attempt to drum in the works a little bit more.)

The fact that the achievement or failure of my house business
rests certainly on my shoulders adds to my stress-level. But
at the thesame time, it's exhilarating -- and is what drives
me and supplementary home-based entrepreneurs to resign yourself to on too many
projects.

My three days in bed were actually a delight. I didn't even
turn on my computer and did tiny else but watch outdated movies
on television. It's a shame it took a tiny boil throat and
fever to force me to slow next to -- and now that I'm support on
the job, I'm definite not to let it happen again!

Here are some tips to back you (and me!) acquire off the
frustrating cycle of work-binge and rest-purge:

1. Set regular feat hours... and attach to them!

2. in the same way as work-time is over, incline off the computer. Don't
check email!

3. get some exercise - it not unaccompanied helps rid your body of
the symptoms of stress, but it clears your head and gives
you the simulation to take steps more efficiently.

4. get out of the house! recognize a walk, go to the mall,
indulge in a designer latte.

5. Pamper yourself - get a haircut, a massage, a manicure or
purchase yourself a little something special. pull off this at least
later a week and enjoy.

6. create a playdate past your kids.

7. create a playdate next your partner. (No, not your work
partner! Unless that in fact appeals to you...)

8. right of entry a photograph album for FUN... or see a movie. all you like,
as long as it does not relate to your business.

9. Catch stirring afterward old-fashioned friends and create some other ones.

10. consider the period you have and use it wisely. Just say
no to extracurricular actions that do nothing to
facilitate your family's well-being or that of your
business.

Will I be next my own advice? Yes - but not all at
the thesame time. Two or three of these a week can make a lot
of difference.

Now, if you'll explanation me -- I'm off to Starbucks for that
latte.
