More and more people are beginning to want their own eBook reader. It's not a strange phenomenon. The eBook reader is a nifty little thing! It's not just the portability that it offers that draws converts; it's what you can use it for. There are many things that can be viewed on these neat little devices.

The more they are further developed and manufactured, the more features and abilities they can do. When you are looking for one, the format is going to be the most important deciding factor among other things. It's not the only one, but it's one of the things you need to pay attention to. Here is a brief rundown of the different formats available on the market now.

PDF (Adobe Reader)

This type of format is one of the most common and widely used. This format is how so many people create and pass information along in the form of an eBook. If you use the Internet, you most likely have come across this format at least once or twice. You will find that just about every reader supports this format, and some readers will support multiple formats.

Sony Reader

Another eBook reader format is the Sony Reader format. This is a format that is obviously only offered on a Sony reader, as they are keeping to themselves as a whole and not offering other formats on their readers. Before you decide on a reader, take a brief run through of the content they offer to see if this is really the reader for you.

Amazon Kindle

This is yet another format among the many. This device has set the stage for other readers, and this format will not be able to be supported on any other type of reader, either. It can only be used on the Kindle reader.

When you are looking for an eBook reader, you should take into consideration a few different factors as well as the format. Are you going to be buying your content, or do you only want free content? Keep in consideration the size, weight, and thickness levels as well before choosing a reader.
