One of the most popular gifts this recent holiday season was an ebook reader. If you have never seen one of these in person, you will be very surprised by how easy they make reading a book. You may not think that you would ever purchase an ebook reader, but they are an incredible device to have, whether you only read in bed, or you like to read outside, while travelling, or during lunch breaks at work.

Of course, if you already have a cell phone and a computer, you might not think that you need to purchase an ebook reader. After all, you can read any book on your computer, but if you have ever tried to do this, you will realize how hard it is on the eyes. Few people can sit in front of any computer for hours on end without feeling the strain from the computer screen.

The true beauty of an e-reader is that the background is a pale white color that resembles the printed page, so your eyes are not subjected to constant back lighting. This makes it easier to read and will enable you to read without eye strain.

If you are ready to purchase an e-reader, then before you do, you should think about comparing the various models online. There are more than just one or two available, and there are new brands coming out almost every month. In fact, if you have waited until now to buy an e-reader, then you are saving a lot of money over the people who bought them a year or two ago. The prices have fallen dramatically, the functionality has increased, and you will find that the latest ebook readers are a lot better and easier to use than the older ones.
