If you are supposed to run a business, then keeping books is obligatory. Earlier, there used to be ledgers, which are now replaced by hard disks and floppies. To protect the paper records and the important documents kept in the files and folders from fire is a daunting and a challenging task for the owners of the business.

This is not only for the business people but also for a common man, normal day to day working average men to safeguard their important documents like policy papers and documents of the house and various other valuables from fire and to keep them in a place that cant be damaged due to fire. Though there is no permanent place presently existent in the world that is hundred percent safe from fires but still there are hideouts to prevent the losses. Fire safes are something created for this very purpose. Thus, their capability to protect is dependent on its melting point.

Fire safes, today, are present in the market in various forms, sizes and efficiency. With technological advancements, the lock mechanisms in the fire safes have been upgraded from normal key-lock system and combination keypads to the ones involving technology like in biometric systems with fingerprint detection. This is to further advance the safety. These safes are also provided with ready made special stacking cabinets and filing cabinets to facilitate the book spacing.

There are two types of fire proof filing cabinets. Former is in vertical shape and the latter is in horizontal one. The septum or the wall separating the two cabinets is attached to some fire fighting material to provide extra protection to preserve the documents from burning.

For the purpose of businesses, there are larger safes made not only to protect the paper records and important documents from burning but also to safeguard the liquid cash earned during day and also, other precious and valuable assets. Also, they are designed in such way that only the key holder or certain trustworthy members of the business have the direct access to use the contents of the safe. This is done in order to protect the valuables from the eyes of the thieves, untrustworthy employees and the burglars. This seems to a perfect device to be used by businesses using large amount of cash flow. When the safes are insulated to the concrete, they give an extra amount of insulation from fire mishaps.
