Earn a Role in the Upcoming Star Wars Sequel


One charitable Star Warsfan is getting a shot at Lucasfilm glory with a cameo in the upcoming J.J. Abrams-directed sequel.To earn the privilege, fans must enter a contest by making a $10 donation to Star Wars: Force for Change, a charity created by Disney and Lucasfilm(in collaboration with Bad Robot).

The winner will be transformed into a character for a scene inStar Wars: Episode VII, and they (along with one guest) will also enjoy free airfare and accommodations to the films London set. The contest will offer the winner behind-the-scenes access to the closed shoot and the chance to meet members of the cast (which, by the way, includes legends from the original trilogy such as Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill).

Fans can contribute through the Omaze campaign, which runs from 12:01 a.m. PSTon May 21st until 11:59 p.m. PST on July 18th.(Nerd note: Each entrant has a maximum of 10,000 entries.) Disney has committed $1 million in support of the project, which, according to a press release, will raise funds and awareness for UNICEFs Innovation Labs and its innovative programs that are benefiting the worlds most vulnerable children.

J.J. Abrams announced the campaign on Wednesday with a video message filmed from the movies current set in Abu Dhabi.We want to put you in the movie inStar Wars, he says from the desert landscape (which resembles Luke Skywalkers home planet, Tatooine).
